· Discussing and requesting updated of CS to CS3 in Mac lab (rm3).
· Checking out software for updating teacher’s Mac laptop (Malinowski).

· Topics for revolving faculty meeting. Purpose: to increase teachers’ awareness of use of
tech to enhance student understanding.
· Discussed tablet update with EdTech staff
· Updated dept members on new projector.
· Updated dept members on CS2 upgrade
· Assisted T.Romano with tablet-projector setup with help of M.Bachrodt.
Week 25 February 16-20
· Discussed process of creating a logo with Adobe Illustrator w/M.Bachrodt.
· Updated FHS Art websites
· Tech Coach meeting, 8th hour on 2-18.
· Created and applied signs to computers in room 4. Signs were made to remind students to
shut down the mac they’re using after they’re done, as most are left on for hours unused.
This is to save energy and prevent wear on these machines.

· Researching Moodle and Twitter for future art dept. use.

Semester 2 (Weeks 21-39)

Week 21 Jan 21-25 Three day week due to MKL and institute day.
Self-tutoring with Flash. Worked on department photography history and criticism blog.
Week 22 Jan 28-Feb 1
Updated website. Searched for art history blogs (high school) and AP art websites for ideas for upcoming FHS AP Art History website and blog.
Week 23 Feb 4-8 Four day week due to snow day.
Created informative PowerPoint for art department. Gave to Jason and discussed/explored better and best presentations in PowerPoint.
Week 24 Feb 11-15 Four day week due to snow day.
Emails and research about Panther, Ilife and Adobe products.
Week 25 Feb 18-22 Three day week due to Presidents’ and Institute days.
Meeting about tablet PC.
Week 25 Feb 24-29
Contact with ed tech to replace cyan, yellow print cartridges for the 4600. Lew Hubbard was having trouble with the overhead projector in room 4: it would not project at all. I switched the projector’s output cable from the front of the VCR/DVD player to another socket on the wall mounted black box and it worked fine. Helped art staff with using NHA rating and attaining new passwords.
Week 26 Mar 3-7
Long email discussion with teachers from St. Charles East High School about graphics tablets: they wanted to get some thoughts and advice as they are in the process of purchasing them. Some security measures were considered for keeping the tablets safer.
Week 27 Mar 10-14
One hour trailblazer meeting. Researched delicious art related links. Research for capital budget concerns in art technology. Tended to tech emails.
Week 28 Mar 17-21 (4-day week due to Good Friday)
Tended to tech emails. District art technology meeting (2 hours).

Research on Leopard working/not supporting Amorphium—nothing found online denotes any possibility of an upgrade or patch. Surveying art faculty about Mac lab problems. Log updating.
Week 37 May 19-23
One hour Trailblazer meeting on MS OneNote. Log updating. Discussion with art staff at other buildings about 3D software to replace Amorphium. Research on Z-Brush 3D program.
Week 38 May 26-30
Emailing various art teachers and tech coordinators throughout the district about the Amorphium issue. Responding to various emails about this issue. Preparing to take inventory of computer issues throughout the art department.
Week 39 June 2-6
Met with J.Malinowski re: gradebook also Microsoft Word/Adobe Illustrator.

Semester 1 (Weeks 1-20)

Technology Coach Log 2006-2007 Semester 1

Week 1 August 22-24 (3 day week—first week)
Research for Booster club items purchase. Art lab (rm3) required much assembly of cables and hardware after construction crews had disassembled and jumbled the hardware and cables. Gathered remotes for art rooms.

Week 2 August 27-31
Installed Spider hardware and software, investigated, calibrated monitor for printing on the Epson 2200. Vast improvement noted, especially with negatives scanned on calibrated scanner. Gave teaching re: Spider use and calibration to Paul Radek. Problems projecting in rooms one and three (image upside down and askew, projector would not turn on) Dialogue with Tony Sansone. Tony fixed problems. Updated teacher website—class schedule.

Week 3 September 4-7 (4-day week—Labor Day)
Dialogue with Eric about 4 stolen digital cameras. Research to replace 4 digital cameras. Dialogue with Jackie Settipani (SHS Art dept tech contact) re: new district multimedia classes. Research for Booster Wishlist gifts: pack of Wacom tablets for Art Lab Macs.

Week 4 September 10-14
Updated student website from last year with last Flash animations, 3-D Amorphium animations and IMovie music videos. Filled out Websense unblock forms for two art-related websites.

Week 5 September 17-21
Dialog with Ed Tech about unblocking deviantart.com (a blog where many students post artwork). Experimenting with Webgrade at home. Dealt with loose cables on a Mac in room 4. Updating of FHS art website.

Week 6 September 24-28
District Art Tech meeting at SHS on Tuesday September 25 from 1:45-3:15. Teaching to Paul Radek and Jeremy Malinowski about the “note” feature in Adobe Photoshop CS.

Week 7 October 1-5
Teaching about spam for E. Dusenske. Research on wikimedia.org. Research Amorphium (3-D program).




Week 8 October 9-12 (4 Day Week)
Corrected problem with .mov files on student web gallery. Assisted with various VCR and DVD help with substitute teacher (for C. Duncan). Researched “Quiaweb” art quizzes..

Week 9 October 15-19
Researched quiaweb, wikispaces, moodle, blogspot and thinkature.

Week 10 October 22-26
Set up and studied new printer (Epson r1800). Worked on new blog for students.

Week 11 October 29-November 2
Updated website. Added blog for Photography teachers (blogspot.fremdphotography.com). Logged work.

Week 12 November 6-9 (4-Day Week)
Tech meeting on institute day: discussed 3-D software to replace Amorphium. Updated department website with a new page for current Computer Multimendia Animation and Video class.

Week 13 November 12-16
.Helped Tom Cole with Photoshop. Met with new teacher, Kristen Anderson, about putting her photo and info on the department website. Research on generic inkjet refills for our Epsons (to save money)—most posters on photo.com point out gross inconsistencies in colors. Logged work details.

Week 14 November 19-21 (3-Day week)
Put Kristen Anderson on staff website, made new page for her, awaiting bio info. Tech meeting on Tuesday. Researched art education blogs.

Week 15 November 26-30
More researching art education blogs.

Week 16 December 3-7
Updated FHS art website. Worked on new Fremd photography blog post.

Week 17 December 10-14
Updated FHS art website.

Week 18 December 17-21 (4-Day Week).
Various email communications with other district art teachers about upgrades to art labs and partitioning HDs for Amorphium (Post-Panther install).

Week 19 January 7-11
2-Hour district art and technology meeting.

Week 20 January 14-18 (Finals)
Worked on projector problem in room 4—image on screen was cropped. Could not repair; referred problem to Tony Sansone and problem was resolved. Updated Tech Coach Blog. Also met with various EdTech staff to calibrate/clean/fix scantron machine. Received a crash course in cleaning/calibrating machines.
